How long has BargainFabric.com been in business?

We have been family owned for since 1987.  Our website, BargainFabric.com was established March 1999.

Tell me more about the type of fabric you sell.

All of our fabrics are the same fine decorator quality fabrics that you will find in your local fabric store.  They are produced by Richloom, P. Kaufmann, Braemore, Interior Fabric Design, Western Textile, and many others.

How do I know how much yardage is available?

Because our stock is constantly changing, it is difficult for us to post the yardage that is available.  Typically there is 50 - 200 yards available for each fabric at the time that they are posted.  All of our fabrics are sold on a first-come-first-served basis.  If we do not have the quantity that you have ordered we will notify you.  No charges will be applied to your credit card until we have your approval for an alternate quantity.

How do you sell so low?

We purchase fabrics in bulk directly from the textile industry.  This includes over-stocks, short-ends, close-outs, market sample rolls, and a small quantity of slightly imperfect fabrics (imperfect fabrics will be noted as such).  We purchase them far below regular wholesale and then pass the savings on to you.

What is "Slub Weave"?

Slub Weave is a heavy cotton fabric that is suitable for fine drapery, home decor and upholstery applications.  This fabric has areas of heavier stitches that give the rich look and feel of linen.

How can I find the fiber content of a fabric?

Because of how we purchase our stock we often do not receive detailed information on the fabrics.  Drapery fabric manufacturers usually list the fiber content on the selvage of the fabric itself.  We will typically list this along with the pattern name, manufacturer, etc.  Upholstery fabrics are quite different.  We seldom receive detailed information.

Can I order by manufacture's stock number?

We do not order or stock by manufacturer's stock numbers or pattern numbers.  If you would like for us to check our stock for a particular fabric send us the manufacture's name and the pattern name.  You may also email us a scanned image of the fabric if possible.

Can I special request fabric?

We have 1000s of yards of fabric in stock which are not displayed on our website.  We welcome your requests for fabrics not displayed.  Email us the manufacturer and pattern name of the fabric that you are interested in.  We will check our stock and get back to you as quickly as possible.

How much will it cost to ship my fabric?

We charge only actual shipping cost.  You can estimate your shipping charges at UPS.com or USPS.gov.  Chintz typically weighs .8lbs per yard, damask and upholstery typically 1lb. per yard.  Of course large orders may incur an over-size charge.  You will need our zipcode: 27021.  We will always be happy to estimate shipping charges for you.  Just email us the item, quantity and your zipcode.

Do you add handling charges?

We never add handling charges.  We charge only actual shipping fees.

By what carrier do you ship?

We ship via UPS ground service or USPS depending on which is most cost effective for the customer.  Often USPS Priority Mail is the best choice for small orders.  We will ship by other methods per the customer's request.

I ordered a clearance fabric but it is still on your website.

All clearance fabrics are one piece offerings.  When a clearance fabric is sold it is immediately scheduled to be removed from our web site.  We prefer to remove these immediately.  However, this sometimes can take several days depending on the extent of the following update.

How wide is the fabric?

All of our fabrics are 54" wide unless otherwise noted.

How often do you update BargainFabric.com?

We are constantly working to expand our website.  We have tens of thousands of yards that have not yet been added.  Servicing of existing orders always takes priority over pursuit of new business.  For this reason there will be times when new fabrics may be added a little slower than we would like.  We are constantly working to speed the process of adding new fabrics.  Check the bottom of our home page for the date of the last update.

Is a print catalog available?

Because our stock is ever-changing it is not practical for us to produce a print catalog.
